Jacks or Better is a type of video poker game where
the goal of the player is to get a hand that is at least a pair of
face cards or better to receive a pay out. If the player gets
a hand that is a pair of jacks, or a pair of any cards higher than
jacks (e.g. Queen, King, Ace) he receives the minimum payout, which
is the number of credits he bet. If the player holds a better
hand, the player receives a higher payout based on the pay table.
In our Jacks or better game, the pay table can be viewed in the top
right portion of the screen.
Video Poker was invented in the 1970s and is an
electronic version of draw poker, where instead of playing against
other poker players, the player receives a fixed payout based on the
hand he holds. Video Poker has been steadily gaining in
popularity since it's inception, although initially it was not well
received. Newer, more liberal pay tables have made video poker
one of the most popular games on the casino floor.
